Pastor Balaba
David of Iganga Pentecostal Church
Below is the transcribed text of a
hand written letter written by Pastor Balaba.
"I thank God for this event is one of its
kind Iganga has ever experienced. The miracles we saw during this time
are more than can be expressed in words. Apart from the salvations of
the souls of children, youths, men and women, Iganga received a
practical breakthrough both in the spiritual realm and the social realm.
People have always thought that the
Christians only knew how to pray and preach. But this time round they
saw the body of Christ reaching out to schools, prisons, youth and also
sharing a meal together with all the people.
The result of all this has been tremendous.
For right now we have an open door to all civic and political offices in
town. The police, the prison authorities, school administrators and
civic leaders all hold pastors of Iganga in high esteem. This has not
been possible in the past years.
Even so, for the testimonies being spoken
of, we are seeing more souls coming to the churches even now. I have a
feeling that there will be many more people coming to Christ even after
many months. The Spirit is still moving though the Festival is over.
I thank God for everybody who contributed to
make this event possible. May God reward people for every coin, penny
and prayer that was contributed to (make) this event possible.
The glory be given to God."
Below are verbal comments made by
pastor Balaba to Carl Dawson during a meeting on April 13, 2006 at a
pastors meeting in Iganga, Uganda.
"I am impressed by the salvations, but even
more impressed by how God is delivering people from witchcraft and
Islam. The Lord is giving the church more power and authority so we
shall look for more souls to be saved. In fact people are still coming
in from the villages and asking if they can be saved.
We are inspired to continue to find new ways
to reach people with the Gospel message. We are now thinking of starting
a football, (soccer) league. We will give a Gospel message before each
match and at the half and give people the opportunity to become born
again!
The people around thought we only existed to
worship and pray, but through this festival they saw that we are people
who care about them." |
